Vandy baseball surges to 15-2

Vanderbilt baseball is off to another strong start. The 'Dores dispatched MTSU and Tennessee Tech during the mid-week before sweeping Winthrop on the weekend to improve to 15-2. This weekend the LSU Tigers come to town and things will get really interesting. Look inside for more.

No. 8 Vanderbilt is 15-2 (0-0 SEC) and has won four straight series to start the 2014 season. Vanderbilt's team batting average is .286 (opponents .168) with an SEC leading 1.43 ERA (opponents 5.04 versus Vandy). Vandy also leads the league in opponent batting average (.169) and fielding percentage (.985).

Xavier Turner: Turner, a sophomore, finished the week with 10 hits in 18 at bats, 4 RBIs, 3 stolen bases, three multi-hit games. One of those multi-hit games featured four hits from Turner.
Hayden Stone: Stone, a right-handed freshman pitcher has had a remarkable start to the season. In appearances versus Tennessee Tech and Winthrop (Saturday) he struck out 10 of 13 batters faced. In 11 1/3 innings pitched this season Stone has struck out 19 batters and given up no earned runs.
Tyler Beede: Beede improved 4-0 on the season after pitching seven solid innings in the 9-1 Friday night win.
Dansby Swanson: On Friday Swanson set a Hawkins Field record with three doubles while posting four hits.
Carson Fulmer: In Sunday's win struck out five over the final two innings to pick up his team-best fifth save.
Jared Miller: Pitched 6 2/3 innings on Saturday striking out a career-best eight.
Tyler Ferguson: Pitched a career-high seven innings allowing just one run on four hits and struck out six.
