McCrary throws for 5 TDs in win

Vanderbilt handled Old Dominion on Saturday night behind five touchdown passes by redshirt freshman quarterback Johnny McCrary. With the five TD tosses, McCrary joins the ranks of such players as Jay Cutler and Bill Wade.

Johnny McCrary threw for 20 completions on 29 attempts for 281 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. McCrary joins Jay Cutler (2005 vs. Kentucky) and Bill Wade (1950 vs. Auburn) as the only players in Vanderbilt history to throw for five TD passes in a game.

"I look at Jay Cutler all the time, really any quarterback in the NFL, and learn as much I can from them personally," said McCrary. "When you go out there and execute, and you have a line like I did and you have wide receivers to make plays for you, of course you're going to break some type of record eventually. That's what we've been trying to do all season long, was trying to have a really cohesive, efficient offense, and that's what we did."

Over the past three games McCrary has passed for 646 yards, eight TDs and 1 interception. Next up for McCrary and his teammates are the Gators of Florida who will visit Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday. Top Stories
