Vanderbilt wins Women's Tennis National Title

WACO, TEXAS-- Vanderbilt won its third NCAA national championship in school history today. The Vanderbilt women's tennis team, which had already won the Southeastern Conference Championship, defeated the defending NCAA women's tennis champion UCLA Bruins 4-2.

Vanderbilt has previously won NCAA titles in Women's Bowling (2007), Baseball (2014).

Vanderbilt had beaten No. 1 ranked USC on Monday before the final with UCLA on Tuesday evening.

In a back and forth battle, Vandy's Astra Sharma, a freshmen from Australia, won her match to score the final winning point for the Commodores. Sharma, nicknamed "Roo" by her teammates, won the match with scores of 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
