Swanson leads Vandy over Indiana

Remember the name "Dansby Swanson"; you'll be hearing it a lot in the future. Saturday night, tied 4-4 with Indiana in the ninth, Vanderbilt needed a play and Swanson delivered both offensively and defensively.

Some are already calling his ninth inning heroics the most incredible play in one inning by a college player ever.

Tied 4-4 with the Hoosiers with one out and one on in the ninth Swanson stepped up to the play. On the first pitch from Indiana's best relief pitcher, Swanson launched one over the left field fence that had the Hawkins Field crowd going nuts.

Later, on the defensive side of the ball, Swanson made one of the most amazing ever throws to first base to get a Hoosier out. Running towards third base, he caught the ball, leaped into the air while simultaneously spinning around and threw a strike to Zander Wiel at first base to get an out. Vanderbilt (44-19) went on to win 6-4 and now is in the drivers seat for another Super Regional.

Swanson and his teammates will now get some well deserved rest time while Indiana must play an additional game. Vanderbilt will play the winner of Radford-Indiana tomorrow night at 8 pm CT.
