Commodores going after ACC commit

Just a few weeks ago, Hudson (FL) offensive tackle Grayson Stover gave his commitment to the University of Virginia but that hasn’t stopped other programs from recruiting him.

Just yesterday, the Vanderbilt Commodores extended an official offer to the Cavaliers commit and they may not be the last school to do so.

Vanderbilt is actively looking for another bookend tackle to add to their 2016 class and by offering Stover, they view him as a prime target for that position. The Commodores coaching staff has some recruiting to do but they may have a bigger shot with Stover than some may think.

“I was talking to Vandy early in the process but the interest I guess dropped off after a while. After I committed to Virginia, they began to come around again like some others have as well. Vandy and Ole Miss are the main two contacting me. I am honestly interested in Vanderbilt and I’m willing to hear what they have to say,” said Stover.

If anyone wants to get into the game with Stover, they will have to do so very soon as the 3-star tackle plans to early enroll with whoever he decides to sign with.

“My plan is to enroll early and right now, everything seems to be going according to plan. I want to get into the program early and establish myself. I am excited about my senior season but I’m really looking forward to getting into college ball.”

Academics play a big role in the recruitment of Stover, that’s a big reason why he has committed to Virginia.

A school like Vanderbilt with their strong academic reputation and their placement inside the SEC helps when recruiting Stover and he plans to see everything Vanderbilt is about sometime soon.

“I haven’t talked a lot with the Vanderbilt coaches but I do know they want another tackle in this class and they are coming after me,” he said. “I don’t when it will happen yet but I am planning to visit Vanderbilt. I am good with Virginia but I want to make sure of my decision. Vandy is a place I have interest in, so I want to check them out before I make a final decision.”

Standing 6’6 305 lbs, Stover has the size and abilities to play either left or right tackle in college. His versatility bodes well on the collegiate level and Vanderbilt see’s that. Top Stories
