While English is focusing on his high school season, he is also keeping an eye open to his college recruitment.
Just two weeks ago, English traveled south to take an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt University and the 2017 signal caller loved his trip to Nashville and has the Commodores at the top of his list.
“I had been down to Vandy before for their prospect camp this summer but this visit went very well for me and I was impressed with everything I saw,” he said. “I didn’t get to see much of the facilities but I was able to meet with the coaches for a little bit and see an outstanding game.”
“Vanderbilt is an outstanding school that offers a lot to not just a football player but a student as well. I have Vandy high on my list, so I am excited about continuing my relationship with them.”
English has yet to receive his first collegiate offer but is receiving steady interest from some power five conference programs.
The DeMatha Stags quarterback says that a few schools are recruiting him harder than others but remains with an open mind to anyone interested.
“I would say that Maryland, Virginia, Stanford and Vanderbilt have shown the most interest so far but I know I have a long time to go, so I am keeping an open mind to anyone,” said English. “I am just trying to put in the work and continue improving as a football player. I have faith things will work out for me, so I am just focusing on my team and my work in the classroom.”
Vanderbilt is a school that has English’s attention.
The Commodores have the academics, a power conference and an offense that appeals to English. He really likes the way Vanderbilt’s offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig runs the offense and he also has extended family living in the Music City.
“I have been in touch with Coach Ludwig and he seems like a really good guy that knows what he is doing on offense. I like the style of play he runs and I think I could be a fit within their offense. I also have family that lives in Nashville, so if I ever did choose them, I would not be alone in a different place. There is a lot to like about Vanderbilt, so I definitely plan to stay in touch with them.”
English stands 6’2 190 pounds and has the size, strength in his right arm and leadership qualities to play at a high level within college football.
He has had a big season thus far at DeMatha and if he continues to perform the way he is currently, look for his recruitment to explode in due time.
