WBB Preview: East Tennessee State

The 6-2 Vanderbilt Commodore women host the 3-5 East Tennessee Buccaneers on Saturday at Memorial Gym. Here is your VandyMania.com preview of the ETSU.

The East Tennessee Buccaneers opened their season with a home win over UNC Asheville. The Bucs then fell in back-to-back road games at Wake Forest and Appalachian State.  A home win over Brevard College was followed by a win at Old Dominion.  ETSU is currently on a 3-game losing streak, most recently falling at Tennessee.

Top ETSU players to watch for include junior guard Shamauria Bridges who averages over 17 points a game. She's made 23 3-point shots this season and recently scored 21 against the Lady Vols. Another guard, Chandler Christopher has 43 assists and a team-leading 13 steals.  6-foot-4 Yamile Rodriguez has blocked 16 shots this season off the bench.

Looking at the Vandy-Bucs statistical comparison, it becomes apparent quickly that ETSU is having some problems shooting.  But they have been solid in rebounding and have much more steals and blocks than the Commodores.

This should be an exciting game to watch and Vandy had better not show up over confident as a player like Bridges could take over the game.

Saturday's game tips off at 1 pm central and can be seen online on the SEC Network Plus.

For VandyMania.com and Scout, this is Don Yates.
