The Aggies, who are the defending Western Athletic Conference Champions, won five straight games to start the season. After suffering back-to-back close losses at Arizona and to a UTEP team ranked 21st in the NCAA RPI, the Aggies have won consecutive games at both San Jose State and New Mexico.
Statistically, 6-foot senior guard Sasha Weber is the Aggies leading scorer. 6-foot-1 forward Brianna Freeman and guard Tamera William are the team's other top scorers. Both Weber and Freeman were selected to the First Team All-WAC squad following the 2014-15 season.
Weber is the Aggies top 3-point shooting threat. Reserve 6-foot-1 guard Abby Scott and William are also formidable 3-point shooters. Of the Aggie starters, Freeman is the top shooter from the field.
Freeman is also the Aggies top threat inside with 79 rebounds and 14 blocked shots. Guard Shanice Davis has 40 assists and 19 steals.
Looking at the Vandy-New Mexico State stat comparison, the Commodores appear to have a stronger scoring defense and better shooting while the Aggies have more blocked shots and have more steals.
This looks like a game the Commodores should win but anything can happen after the holiday break.
Tuesday's game tips off at 2 pm central time. There is no television broadcast scheduled for this contest but game audio can be accessed on VUCommodores.com and 560 AM WNSR radio.
For VandyMania.com and Scout, this is Don Yates.
