Commodore quarterbacks will be getting a big target from Middleton, Wisconsin in Cody Markel. Vanderbilt may have gotten away with a steal as he's rumored to be a walk on and highly values academics with an excellent 3.97 GPA.
Markel caught 16 passes for 211 yards and led his team with five touchdown receptions. The Wisconsinite is a teammate of Joe Ludwig, who is the son of Vandy offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig which leads some to believe he'll playing tight end for the 'Dores. That is not to say he couldn't also contribute on the defensive side of the ball in a Mason scheme that values length and quickness at 6-foot-7.
Markel possesses great ball awareness as is evidenced by a plethora pass deflections at defensive end in his senior highlight video. He was also a three-sport athlete at Middleton High School where he played tennis, basketball, and was captain of the football team.
