Vanderbilt Commodores Basketball Preview: Missouri Tigers

The Vanderbilt Commodores need to get a winning streak going and what better way to start with than against Missouri? Here is your preview of the Tigers.

Missouri won't be involved in the postseason due to self-imposed sanctions. That said, the Mizzou administration picked a good season to keep the Tigers out of the postseason as they likely wouldn't make it  out of the SEC Tournament.  The Tigers have struggled all season and are currently on an 8-game losing streak.

Six-foot-7 freshman foward Kevin Puryear leads the Tigers in scoring.  In the recent loss at Alabama Puryear had 22 points and had six rebounds. Guard Wes Clark also averages in double digits for the Tigers.

Clark and guard Terrence Phillips are the Tiger's top threats from three-point range.  Six-foot-10 forward Ryan Rosburg is the most accurate from the field.

Looking at some Tiger leaders in non-scoring stats, Puryear and Clark both have over 100 rebounds. Phillips leads the Tigers in assists.  Forward Jakeenan Gant has the most blocked shots.

Looking at the Vandy-Mizzou stats comparison, you can see that Vandy has the edge in all categories except for steals and turnovers.  Vandy also has the stronger RPI.

This is a game that Vanderbilt very likely will win.  As long as the Commodores play hard and execute, they will be victorious. Anything less is unacceptable at this point.

Wednesday's game tips off at 8 pm central time and can be seen on the SEC Network.
