In 2002, thousands of Vanderbilt fans participated in the first Dore Jam. It was one of the most successful preseason events ever for fans of Commodore sports.
Dore Jam II is scheduled August 10, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. It will be held on the new AstroPlay surface at John Rich Practice Complex located just behind McGugin Athletic Center. Activities also are scheduled on adjacent Natchez Trace, which will close to vehicle traffic from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.
"I'm looking for a large turnout and hoping every Vanderbilt fan can make it out to the event," Head Coach Bobby Johnson said. "It's a fun time any time Commodore fans get together. It's even more fun when thousands of our followers are together."
This year, nearly every Vanderbilt athletic program will be represented at the event. Commodore student-athletes from all sports will host a variety of free activities for kids, including skill contests, inflatable games and interactive contests.
Dore Jam II also offers Vanderbilt fans an opportunity to meet Coach Johnson and get autographs from Commodore players. The team, led by captains Jay Cutler, Justin Geisinger and Jovan Haye, opens preseason camp Wednesday, August 6.
The first 2,500 adults attending Dore Jam II will also receive two complimentary tickets to the Commodores' second home game of the season, against Tennessee-Chattanooga, on Saturday, September 6.
The event also features complimentary hot dogs and soft drinks provided by Coca-Cola to the first 2,500 fans. Star 97, a Nashville alternative rock station, will provide music.
