Free announced his decision in a tweeted message writing, "I have decided to further my education and football career at Vanderbilt University!"

Scout describes Free as quote "a big, strong-armed pocket presence who can make plays in many different ways." As a junior, the 6-foot-5 Free passed for over 2,700 yards and 35 touchdowns with just 13 interceptions.

Free, a 3-star rated player on Scout.com, also had offers from Louisville, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Memphis and many others.

Free is the first commit of the 2017 Vanderbilt recruiting class.
