Texas star Dayo Odeyingbo picks Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt football picked up a huge commit on Friday night when Texas star Dayo Odeyingbo announced he would join his brother Dare in Nashville.

Odeyingbo's commit was part of a flurry of Commodore commits over the past several days that culminated in four commits at the Friday Night Lights Camp.  Odeyingbo announced later in a tweet saying simply "Anchor Down!".  His profile noted, however, that he was a Vanderbilt commit.

Odeyingbo, a 3-star prospect who could go higher, is by far most sought after prospect of the current Commodore commits. He's listed as an athlete by Scout.com but could play a variety of positions at the next level including tight end, linebacker, or on either line.  Look for him to be an outside linebacker at Vandy.

Scout.com's analysis of Odeyingbo says that he could thrive a in 4-3 or 3-4 defense as a linebacker and would be a terror off the edge.

Other than Vandy, Odeyingbo had offers from Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas A&M, Baylor, Kansas State, Texas Tech and many others.

For VandyMania.com and Scout, this is Don Yates.
