A little less than a month ago,McGowan narrowed down his choices to Duke, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt but shortly after that announcement, the North Georgia native took things down further with a final two between the Blue Devils and Commodores.
McGowan has visited both campuses and was even in Nashville a few weeks ago where he apparently came away quite impressed.
The 3-star athlete is a dynamic playmaker who could make a difference on either side of the ball. Vanderbilt prefers McGowan for offense but is not opposed to switching him over to defense. McGowan’s speed, elusiveness and pure athleticism are tools that could utilized all over the field.
It’s really a toss-up between Duke and Vanderbilt as to where McGowan may land. Vanderbilt added a commitment recently from Texas all-purpose back McLane Mannix and both he and McGowan seem to be the same type of prospect unless the Commodores want him for cornerback.
The Peach State star could just be too good of a talent for Vanderbilt to bypass and the staff may want him regardless of position. It’s hard to see why they wouldn’t and just why Duke has been after McGowan for a long time now.
