Commodores show Walton a 1st class visit & more

Two days ago, Vanderbilt brought in Cibola (AZ) tight end Mark Walton for an official visit and things could not of gone any better. The Commodores decided to offer and now Walton admits that he has a tough decision to make.

Tight end is a featured position in the Commodores offense and after evaluating film and grades, Vanderbilt wanted to bring Walton in for a visit and see if everything was a fit.

Well the visit has almost but concluded and the Arizona pass catcher will be headed back home tomorrow with an official offer to play college football in the Southeastern Conference.

"It is almost surreal that I am in Nashville tonight. I had no idea just over a week ago that I would be here telling you that I have an official offer from Vanderbilt. It truly is a blessing and I feel completely honored to have this Vandy offer. It's a big one and a school I really like," said Walton.

Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason personally got involved with Walton's recruitment and wanted him out here to visit as soon as possible.

Walton came out East on Wednesday morning and each moment of his visit, the 6'5 225 lb tight end said there wasn't a thing he saw that he was not impressed with and he could easily see himself in Nashville attending Vanderbilt University.

"I admit that I didn't expect everything I saw and it was an eye opening experience," Walton said. "First the city of Nashville and the campus itself seems small but united but at the same time, it's not. I think Vanderbilt is a very unique situation that I like a lot."

"The facilities and stadium are great. I personally like the facilities a lot. My favorite part of the entire visit though was my talk with Coach Mason. The whole coaching staff was awesome too but I loved talking with Coach Mason. He really made me feel comfortable and wanted. I could easily see myself attending Vanderbilt and playing for Coach Mason."

Playing for the Commodores is something Walton will have to serious consider but that won't begin to happen until he has finished his upcoming trip to Arizona State.

Walton is set to officially visit the Sun Devils this weekend and following the conclusion of his visit to Tempe, the west coast tight end will sit down with his family to think about his choices and eventually make the best decision for him.

"I have a visit beginning Saturday with Arizona State and I am looking forward to meeting with them and checking everything out. This will be my last visit, so I know I will have to make decision shortly after. Vanderbilt is in serious consideration for me but it's really hard to say where they sit with me because I want to see Arizona State as well as look at my other offers as well. After my visit, I will talk things over with my family and hopefully by Sunday or Monday night, I will be ready to make a commitment."
