Commodores land commitment from 3-star Virginia receiver

Smithfield (Va) WR Chris Pierce officially visited Vanderbilt two weeks ago and on that visit, he knew that he wanted to attend the Southeastern Conference school. Tonight at the start of his high school basketball game, Pierce made his commitment public when ran onto the court in a Vanderbilt T-shirt.

Rated as a 3-star recruit by Scout, Smithfield (Va) receiver Chris Pierce is a tall, big framed guy who Vanderbilt targeted early in the process as someone that can become a matchup problem in college and give the Commodores more quality depth among their receiving corps.

Vanderbilt has been after Pierce for a while and after he officially visited two weeks ago, the Commodores were solidified about their decision to add the 3-star receiver.

Pierce had an excellent time in Nashville and knew where his future home would be but wanted to wait to make a commitment, so he could enjoy this decision among his family and peers.

The Virginia native choose the Commodores over Old Dominion and Temple.

Pierce gives Vanderbilt their 2nd wide receiver commit of the 2017 class.
