Midwest lineman talks about landing his offer from Vanderbilt

Bishop McGuinness (OK) offensive tackle Owen Condon is a fast rising lineman who has seen his recruitment explode over the past month. Yesterday he attained an offer from Vanderbilt and he talks with DoresDaily about his interest in the Commodores and the possibility of him visiting in the very near future.

Vanderbilt has been actively recruiting Condon for over a week now and it's an offer the Oklahoma lineman was expecting.

"Iv'e probably talked to about five different coaches from Vanderbilt and they all told me that the entire staff loved my film and was all in favor of offering me. Before I got word about the offer, I kind of felt they may do so. It excites me to receive an offer from Vanderbilt and I'm looking forward to talking with their coaches much more," said Condon.

Condon is a 4-star recruit by Scout that stands 6'7 300 lbs and is sure to have twenty plus offers by the end of the summer.

A massive bookend tackle, Condon is now up to a total of 10 offers with strong interest coming from the Big 12, Pac 12, Big 10 and the Southeastern Conference.

Vanderbilt became Condon's 2nd SEC offer and it's a school he thinks highly of and plans to visit sometime this spring.

"It's a high academic school that competes in possibly the best college football conference in the country. Playing against the best football competition is important to me but so are academics. Vanderbilt offers both of those, so you bet it's a school I'm interested in. I don't have an exact date right now but I do plan to visit Vanderbilt sometime this spring. I will visit other places as well. I just need to sort everything out and plan out a schedule," Condon said.

Recruiting will get busy for Condon as the 2018 process has just started and he is already valued as a need prospect.

Vanderbilt, like many of his offers and schools interested, see Condon as a need recruit because of his value at playing left or right tackle. He knows how important he is to the success of his high school offense and how much greater the pressure will be, once he gets to college.

"Competition is something I have always built myself around. I love the whole aspect of team play and going one on one with your counterpart. I take pride at doing my job and doing it to the best of my abilities. If I don't do my job, my teammates can't do theirs. I understand how the game of football works and I know it will only get turned up more on the college level. I'm excited about going through it and just can't wait until the season gets here."

As of 2/10/17, Condon has received offers from Arkansas, Iowa State, Kansas, SMU, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Washington St, UL Monroe and Ohio. Schools of interest are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas A&M, TCU and more
