Vanderbilt latest to offer Texas safety who has the Dores along with a Big 10 school at the top of his list

Porter (Tx) defensive back Christian Morgan added his latest offer yesterday from Vanderbilt and it's an offer he has secretly wanted for a long time. A high academic kid, Morgan is a long ways off from ending his recruitment but already has the Commodores along with a Big 10 school among his top two favorite schools.

Vanderbilt is working harder to recruit the state of Texas and by offering Christian Morgan, it's tells you that the lone star state remains important in the Commodores recruiting efforts.

Morgan is a versatile defensive back who is being recruited to Nashville as a safety but has the athleticism and skill set to play corner if need be.

The Commodores became the first SEC school to offer Morgan yesterday but it's an offer the 3-star recruit wanted and a program he has followed for several years now.

"Academics and playing on the biggest stage possible in college football are important to me and Vanderbilt offers both," he said. "I have watched Vanderbilt from a far for a while and I like how they go about their business. Their program has continued to get better and their academics are top notch. Only so many schools offer what Vanderbilt does, so you can bet I am very interested in them."

Not only is Morgan interested in Vanderbilt, the Commodores sit among his top two favorites along with another academic program from the Big Ten.

"Vanderbilt and Northwestern are my top two schools right now," Morgan said. "I like both programs for what they offer in academics and football. Both are in a great conference as well."

The Commodores and Wildcats have positioned themselves well with early offers. Morgan is the type of prospect that will grow on you the more and more you watch his film.

Recruiting has really just started to pick up for Morgan as he added his fifth offer today from Colorado State and is receiving interest from several other schools.

"I have actually been talking with Colorado State for a little while now, so I kind of figured that offer was coming. I am also talking with Colorado, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech and a few others. I'm great with where everything is right now in recruiting. I am just going to remain patient and see what comes my way."

The Vanderbilt coaching staff talked with Morgan about visiting next month for their Junior Day event but his schedule may work out in a way for that to happen.

"I really want to come up there and visit but I don't think my schedule works out for me to come," said Morgan. "The coaching staff wants me to come up next month but I just won't be able to. I will visit though. Right now I am planning on visiting sometime this summer. Vanderbilt will always sit at the top for me, so whenever I am able to get up there, I will be ready and excited."
