Dores land commit from JuCo offensive lineman

Right before National Signing Day 2017, Vanderbilt extended an offer to Dodge City CC offensive lineman Saige Young and immediately became hopeful that they could pull in his commitment. Well they got it as today the Kentucky native lineman decided to AnchorDown with the Commodores.

The Vanderbilt coaching staff is all about adding talent to their roster and it was hard for them not to go after Saige Young.

Today they landed his commitment after hosting the 3-star prospect on campus for an official visit.

Young choose the Commodores over offers from East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Georgia St, Houston, Marshall, MTSU, Troy and UTEP.

A southern born and bred offensive lineman, Young is a powerful, thick and physical guy who's best football is ahead of him. An interior lane builder, Young does well at stuffing his man at the line and even moving him to the second level.

Vanderbilt wanted to add someone who could come into camp this fall and immediately compete for a starting spot. The Dores are having to replace a pair of veteran lineman in Will Holden and Barrett Gouger. The center position is wide open right now and it could easily be won by returning starter Ean Pfeifer in camp, which means an open guard spot could be there for Young.

This addition may be late in the game but Young could end up being a steal for the Commodores. It's hard to find talented starting offensive lineman and the Dores might have lucked into finding a player of those abilities in Young.
