3-star Jeremiah Salaam claims Vanderbilt as top school after Jr Day

Vanderbilt held their first Junior Day event of this season today and Frostproof (FL) safety Jeremiah Salaam didn't need to see that much of the campus before he was ready to claim the Commodores as his top school. Salaam talks with DoresDaily about his visit today and his plans going forward with Vanderbilt.

Frostproof (FL) safety Jeremiah Salaam made his way to Nashville today with Vanderbilt sitting at the top his of list but after today's visit to campus. the 3-star recruit is ready to name the Commodores his leader.

"Vanderbilt is absolutely my #1 school and everything I saw today, made me feel even sure about them being my top choice," said Salaam.

The Commodores extended an official offer to Salaam earlier this year and when that happened, Vanderbilt immediately became a contender due being such a prestigious academic institution but also their setting in the SEC.

For those reasons, Salaam became an instant target for the Dores as Vanderbilt saw the Sunshine state safety as a program fit for both academics and athletics.

That fit came into more light today as Salaam had the opportunity to tour campus, see the facilities and also have the chance to speak with the coaching staff. He enjoyed every second of the visit that he has already set plans to return this summer.

"Man I can't tell you how amazing this place is. It honestly already feels like home to me. The entire visit went great. Vanderbilt fits what I am looking for in a school. Academics are very important to me and the SEC is the best. Everything I saw was great but I really loved talking with the coaches. They are some awesome men and I could easily see myself playing for them. I've already told them I was coming back again this summer and they told me come on. I haven't nailed down a date yet but you can guarantee I'll be back," he said

While Salaam claims the Commodores as his top school, he has yet to decide on when he plans to make a decision. He does however plan to commit sooner rather than later.

"I have been thinking about committing sometime soon but I'm also still unsure exactly when that will be," Salaam said. "I have a few schools that I am looking at, including Vanderbilt but I don't think I am ready to pull the trigger. Vanderbilt is definitely my top school. I just want to make sure they are and I eventually make the best decision for me."

Vanderbilt's main competition right now appears to be North Carolina. The Tar Heels have yet to offer Salaam and stay in heavy contact on a consistent basis.

Salaam is a three star recruit who has size, smarts and athleticism warranted of offers from multiple Power five conference programs. Those schools could be reaching out very soon.
