Vanderbilt football and head coach Derek Mason finalized their 2018 non-conference slate today with the addition of the Nevada Wolfpack to the schedule and this continues the Commodores track out west, especially with playing the Mountain West Conference.
Nevada will be the Commodores 2nd non-conference foe of the 2018 season on September 8th. Vanderbilt opens the season at home against MTSU and in two weeks, they will travel to South Bend, Indiana to face off with Notre Dame. The Commodores conclude their non-conference slate on September 29th at home against Tennessee State.
The Wolfpack and the Commodores have never faced off against each other on the gridiron. Nevada is led by new head coach Jay Norvell and the 2017 season will be his first year on the sidelines in Reno. He comes in as a highly respected offensive mind and appears primed to take the Wolfpack program to a new level.
Nevada is the third Mountain West Conference opponent that Vanderbilt has scheduled to future dates. Besides the Wolfpack in 2018, the Commodores are also set to play Colorado St in 2020 and 2025 and Hawaii in 2022 and 2023.
