Pete's Pigskin Prognostications: Week Three

Pete went a respectable 9-2 last week in his SEC picks. Week Three includes some fascinating matchups, including Auburn (0-2) at Vanderbilt (1-1). Auburn is favored by 12-- does Pete have the (guts) to pick the home Commodores in an upset over the reeling Tigers?

Week Three (9-2, 16-5)

I'm glad I don't have to make a living doing this. I'm worse than the gambling services CLAIM to be against the spread. For sure, this is for amusement only.

Kentucky @ Alabama – The Tide gave #1 Oklahoma all they wanted. They'll give Kentucky WAY more than they want. Expect Lorenzen to spend most of this game sitting down wherever the pocket is when it collapses. Alabama by 20.

Arkansas @ Texas – The Longhorns should stomp on the Razorbacks. Texas ain't Tulsa, and Arkansas won't be up to the task. Texas by 15.

South Carolina @ Georgia – Georgia is looking better this year than last year, despite beating Mitsoo by only 19. Lou worked a near-miracle against Tommy Jefferson's school, but will run out of juice this week. Dawgs by 13.

Western Illinois @ LSU – Budget game for Western Illinois. Slaughter for LSU. LSU 55, WI 0.

Louisiana-Monroe @ Ole Miss – Maybe Eli can pad his statistics against Louisana-Monroe, especially if his receivers actually catch the ball. The dropped touchdown pass in the third quarter that would have put Mississippi up by ten was one of the best passes I've ever seen. The drop turned the game around. Mississippi by 31.

Mississippi State @ Tulane – I am trying, but I just can't bring myself to pick Tulane over a SEC team. State is favored by 3, so I'll go along, though I really think Tulane might win.

Florida A&M @ Florida – (Yawn) Florida's tune-up before the Big Orange. FLA by 55.

Auburn @ Vanderbilt – Auburn is picked by 12, and the Vandy fans are crying about no respect. Here's a news flash! Respect has to be earned, not inferred. When Vandy starts winning these games, the respect will follow. Until then... Auburn 28, Vandy 10.
