Vanderbilt was one of the first schools to officially offer Braden River (FL) defensive end Taylor Upshaw and their efforts are paying off as the 3-star lineman took to Twitter tonight to release his top ten schools and the Commodores cracked the list.
Upshaw is rated by Scout as a 3-star recruit and the 11th ranked defensive end in the state of Florida. His size at 6'5 240 and length on the edge attracted the Commodores to his talents but it's also his academic nature in the classroom that put Upshaw at the top of the list for head coach Derek Mason and his coaching staff.
Vanderbilt is one of four SEC schools to make Upshaw's final ten. Ole Miss, Kentucky and Tennessee joined the Commodores among his final ten and he has plans to visit all four programs in the near future.
If any schools is seen as a possible favorite for Upshaw it would be Clemson. The Tigers are the defending National Champions and Clemson is a dream school for the Sunshine state defensive lineman.
The Commodores have as good a shot as any as they have been hot on Upshaw for a long time and done a nice job of selling him on the Vanderbilt program and school.
Don't look for Upshaw to make a final decision anytime soon as he has plans to make several campus visits this summer.
