These "Cool Zone" fans provided the only respite from the heat on a muggy Nashville Saturday. As in the Ole Miss game two weeks earlier, the heat and humidity forced Vanderbilt to use almost every available player.
One of the few bright spots for Vandy was the punting of Abtin "Ponch" Iranmanesh. The senior from Huntsville averaged a Greg Johnson-esque 43.8 yards on nine punts, including a 61-yarder.
Speaking of Huntsville, these two prospects were among a large contingent of unofficial visitors in the audience for the SEC game. They are defensive lineman David Brown and defensive back Ryan Somrak of Bob Jones High School.
Also present Saturday was Jeremy Gales, a defensive lineman from Spring Hill High School in Columbia, who has already committed to Vandy for the Class of 2004.

Gotta love those pom-pom girls!
A scary moment occurred in the second quarter when senior Dan Murphy was injured on a kickoff return. Team physicians (left) treat Murphy, while the offense takes a knee. Murphy was treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center for a concussion and later released to rejoin the team.
Following the game, the two teams bow for prayer.
Auburn Coach Tommy Tuberville has saved his job, at least for another week. His Tigers defeated Vanderbilt, 45-7.
Head coach Bobby Johnson addresses the media in the postgame press conference.
