Pete's Pigskin Prognostications: Week 8

They say change is good. I didn't miss two games last week, I missed three. The uncertainty in SEC continues, and how it turns out is anybody's guess. According to a newspaper article, if UTK and Florida win their remaining games and Georgia loses only to Florida, there's a 3-way tie for the East champion at 6-2, and it will go down to the seventh tiebreaker, which is a vote by the other nine Athletic Directors (I wonder if Vandy gets a vote, with no Athletic Department or Athletic Director).

How'd you like to be in THAT smoke-filled room? The way all of these teams are playing Jekyll and Hyde, it could happen.

Alabama @ Mississippi – Mississippi still has a chance in the SEC West, and they're playing at home. I'll say the politically incorrect Rebels should sneak by the Crimson Tide, 27-24.

Florida @ Arkansas – Florida was the recipient of numerous gifts from LSU last week. LSU didn't run a play on Florida's half of the field until mid-way in the third quarter. The Razorbacks won't be so generous. Arkansas 28 – Florida 13.

Mississippi State @ Auburn – Auburn is really looking like the team they were expected to be at the beginning of the season. Mississippi State is even worse than expected. Auburn can't name the score, but should have no trouble, 35-10.

LSU @ South Carolina – I expect LSU to correct some of the errors they made against Florida. Heaven knows they've got enough material to work on. LSU by 7.

Ohio University @ Kentucky – I thought Kentucky looked better without Lorenzen than with him. Either way, the wildcats should prevail, 27-17.

Georgia @ Vanderbilt – Georgia can probably pick the score in this one. I think they'll pick in the mid-40's. Vandy may score late in the game against the managers and water boys. Let's say Georgia 48 – Vandy 7.
