Pete's Pigskin Prognostications

Well, the old crystal ball cleared up a little bit last week, for a 5-1 count, but this next week has potential disaster written all over it. You just can't count on anybody these days, especially in the SEC. I mean, really. Florida loses at home to Tennessee and Ole Miss, beats Kentucky with a miracle, and then whips LSU and Arkansas on the road.

In the West, Auburn seems to be in control, but Ole Miss just plays well enough to win every week. What's a prognosticator to do? Well, I can but try.

UAB @ Georgia – Well, at least there is one easy pick. Georgia by 30.

Mississippi @ Arkansas – Despite their respective records, I just don't think Ole Miss has the horses for this one. (Remember when the sportswriter remarked to a Tennessee player that Ole Miss had a lot of hosses, and the Vol responded "Nah, they're just a bunch of mules"? Ole Miss won 38-0.) If the Razorbacks keep their mouths shut, I figure they win by 3.

UTK @ Alabama – The Tide has already lost 5 times this year, and I figure they've got several more in them. This is one of them. These two teams don't like each other. UTK is down this year, but Alabama is downer. UTK 27, 'Bama 17.

Kentucky @ Mississippi State – Kentucky gets an SEC win here regardless of which quarterback plays. UK by 7.

LSU @ Auburn – Auburn is playing like the team they were supposed to be at the beginning of the year. BUT, they are really banged up As for LSU, who knows. The rebounded well after the debacle with Florida, but it was only against South Carolina. If you only watch one game this week in the SEC, this should be it. Auburn by 2.

Vanderbilt @ South Carolina. – Vandy's hyper-conservative offense will once again put them in a hole too deep to crawl out of. The oddsmakers are giving Vandy 16-17 points, and that's too many, but Vandy will lose for the 21st consecutive time in the SEC, 31-20.
