The team played a total of 28 minutes, divided into four quarters. For two of the quarters, the team scrimmaged against male practice players, and in one of the quarters, the returning players squared off against the freshmen. All players participated, except for junior Ashley Earley and freshman Caroline Williams who were held out with minor injuries.
Across the four quarters, junior guard Abi Ramsey led all scorers with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Senior post Jenni Benningfield and freshman guard Cherish Stringfield each scored 8 points. Freshman post Carla Thomas was leading rebounder with seven boards, while freshman guard Dee Davis led the team in steals with four.
"We had spurts where good things happened that made us excited for the future and then we also had some lulls where we made mental mistakes and turned the ball over," Head Coach Melanie Balcomb said. "The effort was there. We had people diving for loose balls and drawing charges. It was very competitive."
