Commodores make debut in AP poll at No. 25

Vanderbilt's men's basketball team made its first appearance in the Associated Press poll Monday since February of 2000. The Commodores debuted in the poll at No. 25 following a 90-59 win over Wofford. Kevin Stallings' team is 8-0, with a home game Monday night vs. Appalachian State. Vanderbilt's 8-0 start is the school's best since Coach Roy Skinner's 1973-74 Commodore team, which won its first ten games and subsequently tied for the SEC Championship.

After defeating Indiana and Michigan in the early weeks of the season, Vanderbilt had appeared twice among "Others receiving votes", but had failed to rank among the Top 25 with AP voters.

Connecticut, Kentucky and Duke made up the top three in this week's poll.
