Tyler Smith, a blue chip prospect from football factory Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas is said to be very interested in Vanderbilt.
Smith is a 6-1, 190 pound defensive back/ wide receiver with amazing speed. He's been timed as fast as 4.27 in the 40 and an incredible 3.71 in the shuttle run. He is listed on Max Emfinger's top 200 Blue Chip List and is condidered one of the top 5 prospects in the state of Texas. He bench presses 300 pounds.
Among the schools Tyler is considering are Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, Rice, and Vanderbilt. So far, he's been contacted by over 60 schools.
According to a source, "He has blown everyone away this summer with impressive numbers from camps he attended at TCU, Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, and the Nike Camp at College Station, TX".
The VandyNation source emphasized that Smith is very interested in Vanderbilt. A commitment by Smith to be a Commodore would be a recruiting coupe of gigantic proportions for Vanderbilt.
Tyler is an outstanding student who will have no problems qualifying.
