Vanderbilt head coach Woody Widenhofer and the University hosted between 60-75 outstanding football prospects on Saturday between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM at the University Club.
The prospects were seated at 20-25 tables with approximately 2-3 prospects and their families at each table. Each table was hosted by a Dean from one of the various Vanderbilt schools. Chancellor Gordon Gee was unable to attend because he was out of the country.
There were several speakers at the open house, including Coach Widenhofer, current players Dan Stricker and Antuian Bradford, and both the parents of current commits Kyle Ralph and Adam Dossett.
After the welcome at the University Club the prospects and their parents were given a tour of the university campus and facilities. Strength Coach Todd Suttles gave a briefing on the weight room. As the players toured Vanderbilt stadium highlights of the 2000 football season were played on the jumbotron screen.
The attendees appeared to be having a good time and enjoyed themselves throughout the event.
Among the many outstanding prospects at the event were brothers Kurt and Kyle Baggett (offensive line) from Obion, TN; Offensive lineman Andrew Wilson from MBA in Nashville; Defensive tackle Randall Swoopes from Athens, GA; Offensive lineman Eric Losey, brother of current player, Chuck Losey from Hixson, TN; Linebacker Jared Weis from Nolensville, TN; Offensive lineman Frank Straub from Lexington, KY; and defensive end Richard Freeman, Brentwood, TN.
Last summer a similar open house produced several commitments. It is not known yet if there were any commitments Saturday.
