Weaknesses:  Wide receiver

Key Game: at Georgia, Sept. 8.  South Carolina's upset over Georgia last season set the two programs heading in opposite directions.  This season's matchup will be just as important.

Coach Holtz says: "Playing with confidence is very important. They will point toward us, but they also won't play as loose and relaxed as they have in the past. Maybe we'll play with more confidence and not make as many mistakes. We have to take better care of the ball. We had that sucker on the ground more than in a soccer match."

Overall projection:  South Carolina is loaded with returning starters and are well coached.  Expect the Gamecocks to be in the thick of things in November.  However, they still have a ways to go before they can overtake Florida or Tennessee as king of the SEC East.
