Richard Graham: This coming season I'll be playing tight end, wide receiver, holding for the extra points and field goals, and on the defensive line as an end in our 3-4 type defense. Vanderbilt is recruiting me as a tight end, like most schools, but a few are looking at me as a defensive end or offensive tackle.
VM: Talk some about your football stats as junior (tackles, sacks, catches, TDs, etc.).
Richard Graham: I had been a quarterback up until mid-way through my sophomore year, but in my first full year as a tight end I had 6 catches for 67 yds and a 2 point conversion in an option running attack offense. On defense I had 5 tackles, 3 pass deflections and a forced fumble in 2 games.
VM: You missed the recent Vanderbilt camp because of a severe ankle sprain. What other camps do you plan on attending this summer and how is the ankle coming along?
Richard Graham: Unfortunately I sprained my ankle pretty bad in basketball in May and I had to miss a few camps; however, if things go as planned I'll make trips to Virginia Tech and North Carolina for camps. I'm rehabbing my ankle 3 times a week and it's getting much better.
VM: What are schools that are actively recruiting you?
Richard Graham: The schools that are most actively recruiting me are North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Stanford, Duke, Maryland, Syracuse, Clemson, Boston College, Connecticut, Indiana, and some others.
VM: What schools have offered you scholarships?
Richard Graham: So far I have a "spot" at a few Ivy League Schools, but no offers as of yet. However, Coach Ambrose from UCONN said he wants to offer me as a DE, but I need to at least visit for the coach to approve.
VM: You recently paid a visit to Tennessee. How did that go?
Richard Graham: I saw Tennessee last week and I enjoyed it. The facilities there were real impressive, especially the fact that they're putting in a 32,000 sq. ft. weightroom. The people there were very nice and the Academic Support Center for athletes was really nice, too.
VM: What are some of the things you like about Vanderbilt and which coach is recruiting you for Vandy?
Richard Graham: My mom and Uncle Howard Lamar both went to Vandy, so I've been a
fan for a long time. However, I really like the fact that Vandy is a top-notch
school academically, plays in the SEC, has great coaches and people in
the program, and the city of Nashville is great. Also I really like
and his strength and conditioning work. Coach David Turner is my
recruiting coach at Vandy, but I've gotten to know lots of the coaches
