Vanderbilt adds Mississippi quarterback

Kris Thigpen is one of the top QB's in the state of Mississippi and the big man decided to go ahead and make a commitment to an SEC school. But how firm is it?

"I committed to Vanderbilt University. I'm really excited about it. I went to their camp and I liked the coaches and the facilities. It just felt like home to me but I didn't commit then because I needed to check some things out," Kris Thigpen said.

What does Kris like most about the Commodores?

"I love that family feeling that Vandy gives me sort of like you get in high school. I feel like I've known them all for a long time up there. They have a winning attitude and I met the players and they want to win badly as well. I think they are going to continue to get better."

Thigpen hopes to bring some big-timers with him to Nashville.

"Hopefully I can get some guys to commit with me. Maybe some good WR's from Tennessee or Mississippi. Anything to make us better."

How would the Magnolia State star describe himself as a player?

"I'm a good leader and I make good decisions. I'm a pro-style quarterback but I'm working on becoming more mobile and doing things outside of the pocket as well."

While Kris is certainly excited about the 'Dores, he wants to keep just a couple of his options open.

"I want to take some visits if I get some other offers. If I don't get any offers, then I'll just take my trip to Vandy and that will be it. I'm still considering Louisville, Memphis, Southern Miss and Ole Miss. I'm probably about 70% committed right now."

While Kris certainly leaves the door open for a change of heart, he gave me the impression that it would be awfully tough for anyone to pull him away from Vanderbilt. Top Stories
