"It's pretty much down to Clemson and Vanderbilt right now," Madsen said Tuesday. "I'm looking at making a decision real soon, but I don't know exactly when.
"I have no idea which way I'm leaning. It's real tough."
What did he like best about his two favorites?
"At Vanderbilt I really liked the players," he said. "At Clemson I like the coaches, and I feel like they have a really good plan for how they're going to use me."
Madsen visited Clemson officially in September, and had an earlier official to USC. Unofficially, he's visited Dayton, Cincinnati and several MAC schools. He described his visit to Vanderbilt as a "good time."
"I liked it a lot," he said. "I got to know the players really well, and hung out with them at night. I played in an open gym with them on Monday."
Madsen plays center and forward in high school, but said he is being recruited strictly as a forward by colleges. An excellent student, he boasts a 3.6 grade point average and a 1090 score on the SAT.
