Pete's Pigskin Prognostications

All eyes will be focused on the world's largest outdoor cocktail party in Jacksonville this Saturday. Some may even be interested in the game, but coaching roundabout will occupy most of the verbiage by the purported experts. Well, there should be SOME football played, anyway. (5-1 last week; 49-10 overall)

Auburn @ Ole Miss – Mississippi doesn't have enough firepower to score more points than even Tennessee's sputtering offense will put up. The big orange may find its running game again against the Rebels. UTK 27, Mississippi 15.

Florida vs. Georgia (Jacksonville) – This game has more sub-plots than a Harlequin Romance Novel bodice-ripper. Emotion plays such a huge part in football. Georgia has been lackadaisical ever since getting whipped by Tennessee, and they weren't that impressive prior to that. Florida was absolutely embarrassed by Mississippi State last week. Forget the coaching situation, the Florida players have something to prove. I think they'll jump out early and hold on to win . Gators 27, Dogs 23.

Kentucky @ Mississippi State – Latest edition of the battle for the bottom of the SEC. The service academies have a trophy for the best team amongst Army, Navy, and Air Force. Maybe VU, KY, and MSU should have a trophy for "best of the worst". I'm taking nominations for the name and design. MSU 51, KY 48 in 7 OT's.

Tennessee @ South Carolina – I can't figure out how the betting public has made this a pick ‘em game. Tennessee has done nothing but win since the disaster with Auburn, and South Carolina, well, they could only muster a 12-7 win over Kentucky last week. Tennessee should roll easily in Columbia, 31-10.

Vanderbilt @ LSU – Devil's Night in Baton Rouge. The carnage in Stephen King's "‘Salem's Lot" can't compete with the real life horror of a VU team that has given up almost 1000 yards in the last two games facing an LSU team that "Has something to prove". LSU 48, VU 10.
