Brunner and Parker Earn All -SEC Freshmen

A pair of Commodore defenders, inside linebacker Pat Brunner and cornerback Lorenzo Parker, were named to the Sporting News' Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team Monday.

Brunner, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, started 10 games at inside linebacker for the Commodores. Parker, from Farmington Hills, Mich., started in the Commodores' secondary during the last seven games after junior Rushen Jones was injured.

Brunner and Parker, along with a third Commodore, offensive tackle Justin Geisinger, were named to the Coaches' All-SEC Freshmen Team in December.

Brunner, a product of the same Cincinnati high school as standout Commodore wide receiver Dan Stricker , was the team's fifth leading tackler with 59 stops. He had a personal high of 1 tackles in the Commodores' win over Richmond.

Though Parker did not enter the Vanderbilt lineup until midway through the season, he finished the season as the secondary' s third-leading tackler with 5 tackles. He also had an interception and fumble recovery . Top Stories
