WR/DE settles on Vanderbilt

Broderick Stewart, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound receiver / defensive end from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga., has made a commitment to sign a football scholarship with Vanderbilt, Stewart's mother confirmed Saturday. Stewart becomes the ninth high school player to commit as part of the Commodores' class of 2005.

Stewart becomes the ninth high school player to commit as part of the Commodores' class of 2005.

A huge target for quarterbacks, Stewart hauled in 29 passes for 536 yards this season and led Riverside Military Academy to the state semifinals in GISA. He is also a finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman from the state of Georgia.

"Vanderbilt has one of the top engineering programs in the Southeast," the academically-oriented Stewart told VandyMania recently. "And at Vanderbilt, I think I'd be able to step on the field almost right away."
