Green to participate in Gridiron Classic

Vanderbilt senior offensive lineman Pat Green is scheduled to participate in the Rotary Gridiron Classic this Saturday at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The game will be televised by ESPN, with kickoff at 2 p.m. EST.

The Gridiron Classic pits a team of players from the state of Florida against a team of players from other states. Though Green is not from Florida, he will compete as part of Team Florida, coached by Lindy Infante. Team USA is coached by Barry Switzer.

Green, a 6-7, 344-pounder from Emmaus, Pennsylvania, started all 11 games at right tackle in 2001 and protected quarterback Greg Zolman's blind side. He allowed just one quarterback sack this year. He also selected to compete in the Blue-Gray Classic last Dec. 25.

Other SEC players in the Rotary Gridiron Classic include quarterback Andrew Zow of Alabama, running back Robert Gillespie of Florida and lineman Reggie Coleman of Tennessee. Promoters of the game boast that more than 250 players that have appeared in the game have appeared on NFL rosters, including Daunte Culpepper, Mike Anderson, Darren Howard, Ron Dixon and Anthony Henry.
