Blue Devils Coach Ted Roof and chief recruiter David Kelly were in his home Friday night for a visit, and their pitch was evidently compelling. Harris didn't decide that evening, but by Saturday afternoon he was certain that he wanted to head to Durham next fall to play for Roof's staff.
"I first told my Mom, then I called my coach over at the high school," said Harris. "He was very happy.
"I just felt more at home at Duke. I felt like I had a better chance to make a big impact at Duke, moreso than the other schools."
His three finalists-- Tulane, Vanderbilt and Duke-- all got a hard look from Harris, who had visited all three officially. He will play either running back or wide receiver at Duke. "I'm relieved to have it over," he said of the recruiting process. "It was a lot of pressure to be under."
