Vanderbilt football signees Grant Brigham and Andrew Pace have been named to the Alabama All-Star football squad, which will face Mississippi's All-Stars in the annual Alabama-Mississippi Classic in June in Mobile.
Brigham and Pace, who also happen to be cousins, were teammates and team captains at Birmingham's Mountain Brook High School this past season. They led the team to a 10-2 record and the state playoffs in classification 6A.
Pace, a 6-1, 190-pound defensive back with 4.4 speed, was named first-team All-State by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He tied a school record this past season with nine interceptions, and returned three of those for touchdowns. Brigham, a 6-0, 170-pound wide receiver with 4.47 speed, was also named first-team All-State by the Birmingham News as well as the Alabama Sports Writers Association. In his senior year, the versatile Brigham scored 10 touchdowns receiving, 11 touchdowns rushing and one on a kick return, and also threw two passes for touchdowns.
A third member of the Mountain Brook team, quarterback Graeme McFarland, was also named to the Alabama All-Star squad. McFarland was recruited at one point by Vanderbilt, but signed on signing day with Indiana University.
The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic will be played in June at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game is scheduled to be televised by Fox SportsNet South.
