Men's Hoops: Commodores add Michigan to schedule

Vanderbilt's men's basketball team will add a home-and-home series with the University of Michigan to its schedule for the next two seasons, according to a report in the Tennessean newspaper.

According to the Tennessean, Vanderbilt will play at Ann Arbor during the 2002-03 season, with a second game presumably in Nashville the following season.  The Commodores already have games scheduled against Notre Dame (away), Indiana (away) and Connecticut (home) in 2002-03.

The Wolverines, coached by Tommy Amaker, are currently 10-14, with a record of 5-8 in the Big Ten conference.

Vanderbilt and Michigan have not played in men's basketball since the 1988-89 season, when they met in the Maui Classic in Hawaii.  Michigan holds a 5-1 edge in the series.  Vanderbilt's only win in the series came in the 1960-61 season opener, when Bob Polk's last team won 58-43 in Memorial Gym.
