Vanderbilt splits double header with LSU

After Friday's rain-out, Vanderbilt (29-13,10-10) hosted LSU (30-14, 11-9) for a doubleheader at Hawkins Field on Saturday. Jensen Lewis helped lead the ‘dores to a 9-4 win in game one, which included 3 RBIs by Dominic De La Osa. But Vanderbilt was unable to keep up the momentum and fell 9-3 in game two.

Former Ace Pitcher Ryan Mullins struggled through 2.1 innings, allowing four earned runs and five hits.

Antoan Richardson scored two of the Commodore's three runs in the second LSU contest. Richardson advanced to third on VU's first hit of the game, by Rucker Taylor in the third inning.

Richardson's first score, completed on a single by third baseman Alex Feinberg, was over shadowed by an umpire racing to call Taylor safe at third.

Taylor hesitated before advancing to third in the third inning. Taylor scored VU's second run of the game off a pop up by Warner Jones.

Brian Hernandez produced one hit each game at Saturday's doubleheader.

Michael Wagner relieved Mullins in the third inning. Wagner pitched 4 innings, surrendering four hits and two earned runs. Junior Matt Buschmann stepped in during the seventh inning to finish out the game.

After 2 RBI's in game one, centerfielder Matt Zeller was unable to put any hits on the board in game two. Top Stories
