Vanderbilt wins 1 of 2 on Sunday at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Vanderbilt catcher Brian Hernandez hit a three-run home run to cap a four-run ninth inning and lead the Commodores to a 2-1 series win over Kentucky Sunday at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Michael Wagner got the win in relief, retiring 11 consecutive batters before Kentucky was able to tie the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Cody Crowell came in for the ninth inning to record his second save of the year.

Hernandez and first basemen Mike Baxter had two hits each and knocked in a total of seven runs in the game.

In the first game of the day, UK's Ryan Wilkes hit a bases loaded RBI single to centerfield and drove in the game-winning run in the seventh inning in the Wildcat's 6-5 come-from-behind win over Vanderbilt Sunday in the first game of a double-header.

Kentucky scored four runs in the sixth inning inning to take a 5-4 lead. Mike Baxter hit a solo homerun in the seventh to tie the game at 5-5.
