Profle 2003 - Jeromy Jones (DL)

Wheeler High School had an off year by Wildcat standards last season, but it wasn't for the lack of effort on the part of defensive lineman Jeromy Jones. Jones had 71 tackles and 7 sacks playing for a 2-8 Wheeler squad. "We were disappointed with the way the season went last year," said Jones. "We lost a lot of close games, and we're going to be returning a lot of people this year. We were very young this past season, so I think we'll have a much better run."

At 6'3 and 265 pounds, Jones has the frame to play either tackle or end at the next level. While he excels at either, he says he likes to be on the outside a bit more. "I like playing both positions, but I prefer the freedom you have at end. I'm going to be playing outside more this season, and I'm going to work hard this summer at getting my quickness up. I'd like to be running a 4.7 by the end of the summer."

Jones has been hearing from schools such as Auburn, Illinois, UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Alabama. "Those are the schools that have been contacting me the most early. Right now I like Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and well, a bunch of schools. I haven't really narrowed it down yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to go to any of the individual camps this summer or not yet. I'm going to talk to my coach about them. We're going to the West Georgia camp as a team, so I know I'm going to that one for sure."

Expect Wheeler to turn things around this season after a 2-8 season, and expect Jeromy Jones to be a big part of the Wildcat resurgence.
