At the Shrine Bowl Combine held in his hometown, Ingersoll began to open eyes with his performance. After measuring in at 6-foot-3 ¾ and 245 pounds, Ingersoll ran a 5.00-second 40-yard dash and a 4.60-second 20-yard shuttle.
Ingersoll then attended camps at Michigan, Virginia, Appalachian State, North Carolina [twice], and Wake Forest where college coaching staffs really liked what they saw, but had a difficult time determining where to play him.
"I'm getting recruited at offensive tackle and tight end," said Ingersoll. "Carolina likes me as both tackle and tight end. Wake Forest wants me as a tight end. Vanderbilt wants me as an offensive tackle and on two tight end sets I'd be the second tight end. Appalachian State likes me as a tackle."
This season Ingersoll will play tight end and defensive end for Butler, but last year he started at right guard where he was named his team's lineman of the week six times.
Ingersoll is no where close to making a decision but is currently favoring North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt.
VU Recruiting Notes
Offensive lineman Burt McBride is expected to visit Vanderbilt soon. McBride is a Vanderbilt type athlete; he benches 340 pounds and scored 1450 on the SAT. Stanford, Harvard and others are also in pursuit.
