Nathan Campbell picks Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt picked up its sixth commit of the recruiting year today when linebacker Nathan Campbell of Hazen, Arkansas committed to the Commodore staff.

"Yes sir, I just got done committing to Vanderbilt," said Nathan Campbell. Campbell (6-2, 211) picked Vandy over Mississippi State, Arkanas State and Air Force Academy.

Like many Vanderbilt commits the chance for an outstanding education while playing in the SEC appealed to Campbell.

"I liked all the coaches there and just the chance to get an education like that and play in the SEC," said the star linebacker.

Campbell believes Vanderbilt's program is on the rise.

"I think that even though people may not realize it, Vanderbilt is an up and coming team."

As a junior Campbell had 110 tackles on defense along with 3 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions. On offense, as a quarterback, he had 800 passing yards and 300 rushing yards. He was selected to All-Conference and All-State teams. A very good student, Campbell maintains a 3.7 GPA in the classroom.
