3-Star quarterback picks Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt netted another outstanding commit on Wednesday afternoon when quarterback Jared Funk of St. Viator in Arlington Heights, Illinois committed to Vanderbilt. Funks becomes the seventh prep player to commit to Vanderbilt during the 2006 recruiting season.

Jared Funk is a talented quarterback who is said to throw a soft, catchable ball. He passed for over 1,800 yards as a junior.

"Jared has absolutely no fear. He throws a very accurate ball. He throws the slant as well as anyone I've seen. He also has a very strong arm; he can make any throw on the field. said St. Viator head coach Chris Kirkpatrick.

Funk, who is rated a 3-star prospect by the Scout.com recruiting staff, was also recruited by Michigan State, Boston College, Illinois, Northwestern, and Wisconsin.
