Dore Jam 2005: A Commodore Field Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Numerous Vanderbilt athletic programs will join forces with the Commodore football team Sunday, August 14 for Dore Jam IV, a two-hour free event packed with fun activities for the entire family. The first three editions of Dore Jam have been among the most successful preseason fan events ever for Commodore sports.

Dore Jam IV is scheduled Sunday, August 14, from 4-6 p.m. It will be held on the synthetic surface at John Rich Practice Complex, located just behind McGugin Athletic Center.

More activities also are scheduled on the adjacent Natchez Trace, which will close to vehicle traffic from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be moved to the Memorial Gym practice courts located off 25th Avenue South.

"It's a fun time any time our squad gets together with Commodore followers. It's even more fun when we can get thousands of our fans together," Head Coach Bobby Johnson said. "Our coaches and players are again looking forward to this activity."

This year, several Vanderbilt athletic programs will be represented at the event. Commodore student-athletes from several sports will host a variety of free activities for kids, including skill contests, games and interactive contests.

Dore Jam IV also offers Vanderbilt fans an opportunity to meet Coach Johnson and get autographs from Commodore players.

The football team is led by two preseason All-SEC performers in quarterback Jay Cutler and linebacker Moses Osemwegie.

Football posters and schedule cards are available to fans attending Dore Jam IV. More than 1,500 "Vandyville" hand fans, promoting the Commodores' new pregame activities prior to home games, also will be distributed. The event also features complimentary hot dogs and soft drinks.

The SEC's most affordable season ticket packages, starting as low as $65 per person, are available for the Commodores' home schedule that includes Ole Miss, Sept. 17; Richmond, Sept. 24; Middle Tennessee, Oct. 1; LSU, Oct. 8; Georgia, Oct. 15; and Kentucky, Nov. 12.
