Edward Sawyer is a fine runningback/ defensive back prospect from Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tenn. VandyMania chatted with Edward about his recruitment and his capabilities as a player.

Edward Sawyer does it all for the Hendersonville Commandos. As a junior Ed rushed for over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns. Sawyer, who says his biggest strength as a player is his field vision, also played defensive back and returned punts and kicks for his team.

You'd think a fine athlete such as Edward would have garnered several offers by now. "I have no offers yet," said the talented back. Many schools have expressed an interest in Sawyer including Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, MTSU, and Mississippi State, but none have offered.

Sawyer, who has no clear favorites, has visited Vanderbilt several times and likes what he sees, "I like their style of offense and I like their coaches a lot."

In addition to his fine junior statistics, Sawyer was also selected as his region's Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-District and All-Region teams.

Sawyer, who dreams of someday playing in the NFL, hopes soon to be one step closer to that goal when he gets an offer. Our guess is that he will soon have one.
