Jim Foster to Ohio State

In a stunning announcement Saturday Vanderbilt women's basketball coach Jim Foster, the most successful head coach in Vanderbilt basketball history, announced that he was leaving to become the head coach at Ohio State.

Vanderbilt women's basketball coach Jim Foster is leaving to become head coach of the women's basketball team at Ohio State University. OSU will officially introduce their new coach at a press conference at 11:30 CT Sunday.

A local television station reported Saturday night that his entire staff would be leaving with him, but details are not yet available.

Foster just completed his 11th season at Vanderbilt, compiling a 246-99 record including 10 NCAA appearances with 8 trips to the Sweet 16. In explaining his reason for leaving, Foster said in a released statement, "Life is a series of challenges and opportunities and my decision to leave is based upon accepting another challenge."

The search for a new coach will begin immediately.
